Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 August 2026
SolarAgent (“we”, “us”) provides a proposal and sales platform for solar installers. This policy explains what personal information we process, why, and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Information we process
- Account data — your name, email address, role and organisation, used to sign you in and control access.
- Customer data you load — names, addresses, contact details, electricity usage and proposal contents that installers enter about their own customers. Here the installer is the responsible party and we act as operator on their instructions.
- Messages — chat and WhatsApp conversations with the assistant, stored so the assistant can keep context and so your organisation can review them.
- Usage and device data — log data such as IP address, browser and pages visited, used for security and to keep the service reliable.
How we use it
To provide the service (building proposals, sending proposal links, running the assistant), to support you, to secure the platform, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information and we do not use your customers’ data to market to them.
AI processing
The assistant uses third-party large language models to interpret requests and draft content. Only the information needed for the request is sent, and it is not used by us to train models.
Sharing
We share data with service providers who host the platform, deliver email and WhatsApp messages, and process payments, each bound by contract to protect it. We may disclose information where the law requires it.
Retention and security
Data is kept for as long as your organisation has an account and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal and accounting duties. Access is role-based, proposal links use unguessable tokens, and all traffic is encrypted in transit.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or object to its processing, by emailing hello@solaragent.energy. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
